The 2025 Excellent Markets and LOHAS Stalls Awards and Showcase Ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, was recently held at the Howard Civil Service International House in Taipei. Hsinchu City once again delivered an outstanding performance in the nationwide evaluation. Following Guan Dong Market, Zhongyang Shopping Arcade successfully claimed the highest honor of a Four-Star Excellent Market. Additionally, vendors from Jhongyang Market, Zhongyang Shopping Arcade, and Guan Dong Market earned a total of 70 stars in the LOHAS Stalls assessment, setting a new milestone in the city’s traditional market revitalization efforts.
Acting Mayor Chiu Chen-Yuan stated that Hsinchu’s impressive 70-star achievement in the LOHAS Stalls competition is a strong testament to the successful transformation of the city’s traditional markets. These markets are no longer just essential shopping destinations, but also a collective source of pride for Hsinchu residents. He expressed his gratitude to all the vendors for their dedication and teamwork in elevating the city’s market reputation. Chiu noted that in recent years, the city government has continuously advanced the upgrading and transformation of traditional markets. These improvements span from hard infrastructure—such as floor renovations, electrical system upgrades, and enhanced air-conditioning and ventilation—to soft enhancements like arcade renovations, improved wayfinding systems, and aesthetic upgrades to vendor stalls. These efforts have significantly improved the overall quality of the market environment. Hsinchu’s strong showing in this national evaluation not only highlights the commitment of its vendors but also affirms the effectiveness and external recognition of the city’s market improvement policies.
According to the Department of Economic Development, Hsinchu City delivered a particularly strong performance in this year’s LOHAS Stalls evaluation. Among the highlights was Xin Hong Guan Yarn Shop at Zhongyang Shopping Arcade, which earned the top five-star LOHAS Stall rating. The shop received high praise from judges for its professionalism, attentive service, and locally rooted brand philosophy, making it one of the most notable stalls in this year’s evaluation. In addition to the top honor, several stalls across the city also performed strongly in the four-star and three-star categories. These included the farmers’ market section at Zhongyang Shopping Arcade, POW!CON Charging Bottle coffee&bar, Juhua Floral Design, and Bookingbook2022 Bookstore, all of which stood out for their innovative operations and unique cultural flair. At Guan Dong Market, Jia Feng Fresh Fish Stall impressed the judges with its fresh products and professional service, reflecting the vibrant diversity and thriving atmosphere of Hsinchu’s traditional markets.
