Hsinchu’s brightest year-end celebration, “2025 Hsinchu FUN Christmas,” kicked off on the evening of December 6 with a festive light-up ceremony at the plaza in front of Hsinchu Railway Station. Acting Mayor Chiu Chen-yuan joined special guests to activate the lighting installations. The century-old train station came to life with projection mapping, followed by the lighting of the main Christmas tree, illuminating the winter night with vibrant lights and marking the official start of the city’s winter festivities. Acting Mayor Chiu noted that the event will run from now through December 31, featuring activities across Hsinchu Railway Station, the East Gate, and along the Hsinchu Moat. The program includes projection mapping, atmospheric lighting, and a Christmas market, creating a holiday experience that blends cutting-edge technology with a storybook-like charm.
Chiu emphasized that December is a season of gratitude and romance, and “Hsinchu FUN Christmas” not only launches the city’s winter events but also encourages citizens to rediscover the charm of the old town through a new lens. This year’s festivities feature a projection mapping show titled “Happy Hsinchu,” structured around a three-part timeline that narrates the city’s journey: “Zhuqian Splendor” looks back at Hsinchu’s rich historical legacy, “Windy City Evolution” highlights its transformation and modernization, and “Greeting the Dawn with Favorable Winds” envisions a hopeful future. At the heart of the celebration stands the 10-meter-tall main installation, “Dream-Chasing Tree,” which incorporates a large LED screen to present a high-tech reinterpretation of a traditional Christmas tree—an homage to Hsinchu’s identity as a “City of Technology.” The city government will continue the festive momentum with a New Year’s Eve countdown celebration, the “Hsinchu Guo Hao Nian” Lantern Festival, and a Lunar New Year market. These events will extend the seasonal cheer into the Lunar New Year period, offering a wide range of family-friendly activities for all ages throughout the winter.
